Rainman Systems

RAINMAN WATERMAKERS
A fresh approach to seawater desalination.
Rainman Watermakers are a compact system designed to generate a fresh potable water supply from seawater. They can be installed in a minimum footprint Modular configuration, installed as a single Framed unit, or kept Portable for maximum flexibility.
We use only top quality components and apply strict quality control in our build process, allowing us to deliver the most reliable watermakers to our clients. This is why many of the largest charter fleets rely on Rainman for their watermaker requirements.
Power Source
Rainman offers three main power sources for our watermakers. AC electric, petrol (gasoline), and DC electric.
NO POWER SOURCE REQUIRED
PETROL (GASOLINE) WATERMAKERS
230V/50HZ OR 115V/60HZ
AC ELECTRIC WATERMAKERS
12VDC, 24VDC OR 48VDC ELECTRIC
DC ELECTRIC WATERMAKERS

AC Electric
Our most popular watermakers are the AC variants as they provide high fresh water production while retaining modest power requirements. The highest output available is the Framed Rainman Torrent at 240 litres per hour (63 gph) and our most commonly sold system is the 140 litre per hour (37 gph) available in Portable, Modular, or Framed formats.
In order to maximise reliability and serviceability, all our AC electric systems utilise an impeller lift pump and ceramic piston triplex plunger pump, both mounted on each end of an induction AC motor with a through shaft.

Gasoline
The original Rainman watermaker was our petrol (gasoline) powered system. In 2014, our first version of this system made the industry ask “Why didn’t someone think of a portable watermaker before this?”
This system requires no external power source, so long as you have fuel. It is ideal if you don’t have a generator and need to conserve your battery bank. Not relying on external power gives maximum flexibility for taking it ashore, loaning it out, or using it in emergency situations.

DC Electric
For customers that prefer to operate their watermaker from batteries, Rainman offers options in 12VDC, 24VDC, or 48VDC. These are manufactured in either Portable, Modular installed, or Framed formats (48VDC only for Framed option). This gives the customer maximum choice on the operation mode and output levels. Options range from 34lph (9gph) to 140lph (37gph).
In order to maximise reliability and serviceability, all our DC electric systems utilise an impeller lift pump and ceramic piston triplex plunger pump, both mounted on each end of a DC motor. It’s a great option for those wishing to avoid the complexities and maintenance requirements of energy recovery systems.

Portable, Modular or Framed
The systems can also be delivered in three formats, our well known Portable systems in a case, the Modular systems for minimalist installation, or Framed systems for easier installation process. Although the Rainman watermaker was originally designed as a portable system not requiring installation, many of our customers choose to partially or fully install the system in their boat. The variations can range widely, including installation of both the pressure supply unit and reverse osmosis case to installing one or the other of the units.

Portable Benefits:
- The system can be operated without an installation process. Ten minutes after receiving the system, you can be making fresh drinking water.
- If you are a cruiser and a racer, you can easily offload about 2/3 of a crew member weight by putting the watermaker ashore.
- No extra holes in your hull.
- If you are space-constrained, you can remove the system to fit more people or gear for short trips.
- If maintenance is required, you bring the system to a technician rather than bringing a technician to your boat.
- When you upgrade your boat, you take the system with you. Installing a system in your boat will not add significant value to your boat.
- You can loan it to a friend.
- Reduced cost due to avoiding expensive and invasive installation process.
- You can fill your neighbour’s tanks with the product water extension hose.
- Moving the system around is easy if you have an RV, live near water, or have another boat.
- You can easily resell the system if you are no longer getting use out of it.
Installed Benefits:
- You can operate the system without the need to pull it out on deck.
- No hoses thrown over the side of your boat while the system is in use.
- Less concern of hoses getting kicked out of place while in use.
- Easier to use while underway.
Control Systems
Depending on which format system you purchase, there are various options for controlling your AC electric Rainman.
The Rainman AC electric systems can be purchased and installed on its own with only a simple valve/gauge assembly to control pressure. However, most customers will prefer to add either the manual or fully automated control panel options for a more convenient user interface.
Minimalist Control Assembly
The basic Modular Rainman watermakers will arrive with a simple valve/gauge assembly to control pressure. This is to be mounted in a convenient location and take up barely any space. A separate product water flow meter can be mounted vertically nearby.
Optionally, you can install the autoflush system to assist in the flushing process.

Manual Control Panel with Autoflush
The manual control option provides a convenient interface for your Rainman framed watermaker. It’s a highly presentable and functional component that will enhance your Rainman user experience.
While being manually controlled, some electronics convenience features assist in system operations.
- Autoflush function triggers flush cycle after powering the watermaker off and every seven days thereafter
- Built in tri-colour LED salinity sensor indicates when water is good to route to your tank
Fully Automated Control Panel
For a more luxury experience, the fully automated system incorporates significant convenience features while ensuring maximum reliability.
- Wired remote micropanel for full control at your nav station.
- Bluetooth connect phone app (iOS or Android)
- Timer function or set litres to be made
- Full pressure control
- Water diversion sending only good water to tank
- Manual backup in rare case of any sensor or electronics issue
